Cars DVD (Widescreen Edition)

Lightning McQueen, a hot-shot stock-car, is the protagonist of the saga "Cars." While on his way to a big race, the confident McQueen is unexpectedly detoured to Radiator Springs, where he discovers the true importance of friendship and family.

Despite having the slimmest extras package for a Pixar film debut on DVD, "Cars" still delivers an excellent home viewing experience. The film's stunning sound and visuals are as impressive as ever in this digital-to-digital transfer. The only behind-the-scenes feature is a 16-minute, yet entertaining, look into director John Lasseter's influences, including real-life inspiration from Michael Wallis's book about Route 66. The DVD includes a new cartoon, "Mater and Ghost Light," which is sure to bring a smile. Additionally, there are four deleted scenes presented in a storybook format with voices, hinting at a darker tone the movie may have taken at one point. The highlight is the adorable short film "One Man Band," which was shown theatrically with the film. The DVD also allows viewers to see the credit sequence full screen without the credits and features an Easter egg for an extended version.
